hmm...dont worry, it's getting more interesting boys and girls
It was getting dark. And the wind was blowing hard and it was raining.
Nothing seemed to be very nice in the alley D'lesse was sitting in. She had
been kicked out of her apartment 3 days earlier from not paying her rent.
She had no money and had lost her job.
It was just like the old days. Except that Libby wasn't with her.
D'lesse cried. She was in so much pain and she was too sick to do anything.
The winter cold was getting to her, and she was not dealing with it well.
Thaddeus had gone away with a new girlfriend, and she had nothing except the
clothes on her back.
"Damn this." She said, lighting up a cigarette. "I got to.get away from.all
this."
Her fingers were turning blue as she took a puff on her cigarette, she knew
she had to get somewhere warm, or she was going to freeze to death.
Slowly, she stood up from the wooden box she was sitting on, and took a step
forward. She was so cold.
D'lesse knew there was a homeless shelter a few blocks away, and she hoped
that she could make it there
It took her a while, but eventually, D'lesse made it to the doors of the
shelter. It was dark inside, but the smell of hot soup was pouring out from
under the closed door.
She pushed her way inside, to be greeted with warm smiles.
D'lesse was the only one inside.
"Please," She said. "I have no home, no food, and I need help."
An older lady walked out from behind the front table, and handed D'lesse a
blanket.
"Take this love," The lady said. "I'll get you some soup as well."
"Thank you so much." D'lesse replied, with tears in her eyes, as she sat at
a table. "I have no-where to go. I got kicked from my apartment because I
lost my job."
"That's no good." The lady replied. "Why did you lose your job?"
D'lesse felt a lump in her throat.
"My Daughter." She started. "She, she was killed not too long ago."
The lady walked over to the table and sat next to D'lesse
"I'm so sorry love." She said, handing D'lesse a spoon and putting the bowl
of soup on the table. "My son was killed early last year. I understand."
D'lesse felt rage well up. She wanted to scream out loud that the lady didn'
t know what she was on about, and then hit her for it. But she knew she
couldn't. Even if the lady did know, D'lesse wasn't going to believe her.
"I have to go." She said abruptly, putting the spoon in the bowl, and
standing up. "Thank you for the food, but I have to leave."
It was raining even harder outside. And it was getting colder. D'lesse
sneezed, and coughed until she was hurting. She had a cold, a bad one.
"Damn fucking stupid city." She said, coughing more. "I gotta go find
Thaddeus."
D'lesse mumbled more obscenities as she walked over to a phone booth.
She had a quarter in her pocket, and a number scribbled on a piece of paper.
It was supposedly where Thaddeus was staying, and if she didn't get help
from him soon, she knew she would die.
She dialed the number, and it connected.
"Hello?" A guy answered the phone.
"Thaddeus?" D'lesse said weakly.
"Who is this?" Thaddeus sounded confused.
"It's your fucking sister." She said, and coughed.
There was silence. She could hear him breathing, and he could hear her
shivering.
"D'lesse where the hell are you?"
"Payphone. Corner 5th and 3rd. Help me? Please?"
"2 minutes." He said, and hung up.
Thaddeus was not one for long meaningful conversations
D'lesse stayed in the phone booth until her brother arrived. She passed out
minutes earlier, and was beginning to lose things
There was darkness, and lots of noise.
It was warm, and there was music
In fact it was Metallica.
She was in Thaddeus' car.
She knew it was because of the smell of surfboard wax.
It was a comforting coconut smell.
But the car wasn't moving.
D'lesse slowly opened her eyes.
The sun was shining down through the windshield of the car, and straight
into her eyes, which she immediately shielded.
They were parked up at a gas station. She could see Thaddeus getting food
inside, she was so hungry. D'lesse regretted not eating the soup at the
shelter. At least that would have given her some energy.
When Thaddeus got back into the car, he handed D'lesse a hot coffee and some
snacks.
"Thank you." She said, drinking some coffee.
"Well, I can't let you die, can I." Thaddeus seemed pissed off.
"I guess so."
Thaddeus started the car, and drove. D'lesse has no idea where they were or
where they were going. All she knew was that they were out of Celedon, and
she was happy with that.
They drove for what seemed like hours and hours in the rolling countryside,
watching the trees and things pass by. D'lesse tried to talk, but no words
came. She was getting frustrated.
"This is it." Thaddeus finally said, pulling off the road. "This is my new
house."
Thaddeus turned and smiled at D'lesse. This was the first time he had smiled
since he had seen his sister that day.
"You live here?" D'lesse asked.
"I do indeed"
Thaddeus' house was picture perfect. It was thatched, and had a pretty
garden out front. Not D'lesse's ideal surroundings, but it looked
comfortable enough to live in. Maybe she could start a new life here with
her brother, get over Libby death. Maybe not. She'd have to see.
The next morning, it was a little cold. D'lesse was having a coffee of the
front porch, and reflecting on the past events of her life. She wasn't
depressed anymore, which surprised her. Maybe things were starting to take a
good turn. She sure hoped so.
She did like the surroundings, wild Pidgey were nesting in a tree across the
road, which she thought was cool. It wasn't often that a city girl got to
see a wild Pokémon. She thought how nice it would be to have one of her own.
"I'm gonna catch me one of those." She said to herself, as she watched a
wild Ratatta run across the road. "yep, I think I will."
