Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2000/06/18 Pokewars: Trent Retwin "It's a Retwin Father's Day Special!" Jose L. Solano "Ok, so why did heaven send us swords?" Trent asked. He sat on a tree stump as Katherine wrapped a bandage around his arm. They had left Fuchsia to avoid unwanted attention, especially by the authorities. "Heaven didn't send anything, I was asking a friend of mine up there." "A dead blacksmith?" "Exactly!" Katherine cut the bandage and washed her hands in the nearby river. Trent stood up and put his trenchcoat back on. "So, are you gonna stay down here permanently?" Trent asked. "I wish I could. I can only stay here for six days. I've already used one up, and I'd like to see our son before my time runs out." "Alright, I'll take you there. Your parents are living in Lavender right now, so it should take us about a day. But... uh... you might want to change out of that." "Huh?" Katherine looked at herself. "Oh, right, the gown... yeah." --------------------Exactly One Day Later for Plot Convenience------------------------------- Trent and Katherine arrived at Lavender near dusk. They stopped by Trent's old hideout to pick up some clothes for Katherine. She had changed into a white t-shirt, jeans, and Trent's old black jacket. "Let's see... the Jennings..." Trent said to himself as he looked through a phone book. "Here we are, Henry and Emily Jennings... 665 Fortuna Drive." The walk to the Jennings residence was short. Trent knocked on the door a few times and waited for an answer. "Who is it?" "It's a flashback from hell." Hank Jennings opened the door and nearly had a heart attack at the sight of Trent. "Trent! No! You're dead! I made sure of it!" Trent picked Hank up by the collar. "You sent Dreadite to kill me?!" "NO! I arrived at the scene! I poked your body with a stick!" "Put him down, Trent," Katherine said. Hank immediately noticed his daughter and hugged her tightly. "My little girl! I thought you had passed on!" Katherine's mother, Emily, looked out the door to see what was going on. At the sight of Katherine and Trent, she fainted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "So then we killed Akumachu, and now we're here," Trent finished explaining as he sat on the couch. Hank adjusted his glasses and cleared his throught. "Well that's... quite an interesting story but... what is it you came here for?" "We came to see Nicholas," Katherine said. "Where is he?" "He's in his room, sleeping," Emily said. Trent and Katherine got up and looked for his room. Considering there were only two rooms in the house, it wasn't hard. As soon as Katherine opened the door, Nicholas began to cry. She picked him up and he quickly calmed down. "Wow... he's grown," Trent said. "He looks just like you... well, he has my hair color. His eyes are even red like yours." "My eyes are STILL red?!" Trent checked in a nearby mirror. "GREAT! I killed Akumachu, I have nothing to do with hell anymore, what else do they want me to do?!" "It's probably permanent. If you ask me, it looks good on both of you." Katherine sat down on Nicholas's toy box and cradled him to sleep. "I mean, his resemblence to you is uncanny. The spikey hair, the eyes, everything. If I didnt know better, I'd say he's a clone." "Well you know what?! YOU'RE BALD!" said an unidentifiable voice in the living room. Trent and Katherine, holding Nicholas rushed over to see what was going on. "Your beard is uneven!" "Your nose is crooked!" "Your hair is dirty!" "Your gut is showing!" "You're too tall!" "You're too short!" "DAD?!" Trent yelled. The man arguing with Hank was none other than Trent's father, William. "Hello, son! You should try bein' a ghost next time you die, it kicks ass!" "Excuse me for a second." Trent walked back upstairs and into Nicholas's room and shut the door. Everyone remained calm except for Katherine, who knew he'd do something crazy, stupid, or senseless. Maybe all three. "Why, God?! WHY?! WHY DO YOU HATE ME?! IS IT BECAUSE I'VE NEVER BEEN TO CHURCH?! IS THAT IT?! DO YOU WANT ME TO WASTE AN HOUR OF MY LIFE LISTENING TO YOUR BITCH DRONE ON AND ON ABOUT THE EVILS OF FUN?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?! YOU WANT ME TO DO THAT EVERY FUCKING SUNDAY?! IS THAT IT?! YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!! I DON'T RUIN PEOPLE'S LIVES JUST BECAUSE THEY WON'T LISTEN TO SOME MORON TALKING ABOUT MY LIFE!! YOU KNOW WHAT?! FUCK CHURCH AND FUCK YOU!!!" "Is he always like this?" William asked. "Always," Katherine replied. "That's m'boy!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- "Ok, so we have three generations of Retwin inside the Jennings household. If that isn't fucked up, I don't know what is." Trent sat on the front porch with his ghastly father. "Well, I decided to use my few minutes as a spectre to see ya, son." "Why me? Why couldn't you cause trouble at Jacob's house?" "Because Jake's a little pussy and he knows it. He's an embarrassment to the Retwin name." "It's great that I see you after about twenty years, but did you have to go and piss Kate's dad off?" "He started it. He said I had a moron for a son." "Ah, don't worry about him, he just makes me for knocking up Kate." "I don't blame ya for that. She's a mighty fine-" "Hey! She's my girl. Don't check her out." "Fine. Listen son, I gotta get goin' soon, my time's almost up. But before I go, lemme just tell you one thing- it's ok to be a badass and beat the shit outta someone every now and then, but try to stay outta trouble, ok?" "Yeah, thanks for the talk a YEAR after I killed a dozen people!!" "I best be goin'. Seeya, son!" "Goodbye dad. Oh, and if you see Red Speer, kick his ass for me." "Done and done!" William then disappeared. Trent got off the porch and walked back into the house. "I think that was the most fucked up five minutes I've ever spent." "Even worse than your months with Akumachu?" Katherine asked, still holding Nicholas. "Far worse. At least Akumachu tried to kill me. I'm surprised dad didn't give me a lecture on sex and waiting until I was married." Katherine giggled at that. "It's getting late. I'm taking Nicky back upstairs." Trent sat down on the couch. "Well, I guess I'll be sleeping down here." "You're damn right," Hank said. "Katie's sleeping upstairs with us." "Great. I'm bunking alone tonight. Again." In that moment, Trent realized something many of us have known for years... ...Life sucks.
